The keys are inside the car
Tell us the vehicle make, model and year, where it is parked, and whether the keys can be seen inside. Mention a garage, height restriction, gate or other access issue. A street address is more useful than a square or shopping area alone.
If someone is in danger inside the vehicle, contact emergency services. Otherwise, wait safely away from moving traffic. Have identification and evidence that you own or are authorized to use the vehicle available.
A key or fob is missing
A lockout and a replacement key are separate tasks. If there is no working key available, say so at the beginning of the call. If a spare still works, explain what it does: starts the car, opens the door, or both.
A replacement may involve cutting, programming or another process specific to the vehicle. Do not order a random fob online before compatibility is checked. We cannot confirm support for every model, year or key system from a general description.
The key is present, but something is wrong
Describe the exact symptom: a button stops responding, a metal key will not turn or the vehicle does not recognize the fob. Tell us whether you have tried a known working spare. Avoid treating every no-start problem as a key problem; the cause may need a different kind of diagnosis.
